I'd like to share the joy of a good review with you. We all worry about whether our work will be well received or not. Our friends and family support us, praise us, and tell all their friends about our work, and that's a wonderful thing. I recently did a give-a-way on the wonderful site Goodreads.com. I had an overwhelming response and several winners. It was my joy and privilege to mail out the free copies of my novel An Unlikely Arrangement to these deserving people. You never think you will hear back from one of those give-a-ways, but I was fortunate enough to have it happen. I want to share with you the review. Of all the advice I give to anyone who has taken this journey as a writer, the one one thing I always say, is to keep at it! Don't give up, learn, learn, learn. Perfect your craft, take advice, support other authors and good things will come back to you. Be humble. If you lift up yourself, it will never happen for you. If you lift up a good product, one that has been polished until it shines, then good things will happen. This doesn't have to be a dog-eat-dog world. Even though I am an author and spend alot of my time writing, I still make sure I have time to promote other authors and new writers who have taken the same journey. To watch another's success and know you had just a small part in helping them to achieve their goal is such a pleasure. So humbly, I'll share this review with you. Of all the sales I may have made and will make, this one free giveaway has given me the most pleasure! Please read and share my bit of sunshine.

Hi Patty!
I am now following here on GFC as: lauriehere
I am a book reviewer/Blogger and work with several authors and have become good friends with them. I like what you wrote about the feeling, enjoyment and INCREDIBLE JOY of getting an outstanding review on a book you have written. Yes, it DOES help the author verify and feel SO good about what they have accomplished with ALL the hard work that goes into the writing of their book(s)! You cannot ever have enough GREAT reviews! I am SO glad your reviews are coming back SO wonderful!
I have not yet read your book, but it does sound very interesting! This one is going to go into my TBR pile! I am an upcoming challenge this year, 2012, to read '1' book a month 'of our choosing, just for FUN'! I have bought this book and have added this one to my TBR list on Goodreads! This book falls directly in the category I LOVE! Fiction/Romance/Mystery!
To bad the 10 reviews are not listed on Amazon! Amazon has only 2. Hopefully those reviewers WILL list their reviews on Amazon for you as well!
I bought your book and am really looking forward to reading it! I know a LOT of Detroit's history as my entire family grew up here since prior to that time, and we still live here in the suburbs. I don't know a lot about that time, and am interested in learning! You had to have done a LOT of research about that era for this book!
I am anxious to read this book!
CONGRATS on your accomplishment, AND on your next work you are working on now!
Thanks!
Laurie Carlson
